ST MARK’S BASILICA OFF THE MARK

03 Jun 2025 09:36

Champion St Mark’s Basilica was supplied with his first winner on Monday when Rogue Supremacy impressed on debut at Wetherby. The  David O’Meara-trained colt was sent off a warm favourite and duly obliged by two and a quarter lengths over the A’Ali-sired Vlad.

St Mark’s Basilica was a European champion two-year-old when winning the Dewhurst in 2020. The son of Siyouni proved a brilliant three-year-old for Aidan O’Brien and Coolmore, winning all four starts in the French 2,000 Guineas, French Derby, Eclipse and signed off his career in the Irish Champion Stakes, defeating Tarnawa and Poetic Flare in the top-class contest at Leopardstown to make it five top-level victories across two seasons.
