Former Philippi trainer Carl Burger passed away at the age of 60 on Monday afternoon.
A diabetes sufferer, he had not been in the best of
health for an extended period and he sadly passed away after suffering a heart
attack.
Tabnews reports that Carl trained more than 50 winners
after previously serving as assistant to Herman Brown Snr, Selvan Moodley,
Weiho Marwing and Riaan Van Reenen.
The best he trained was the stayer Grey Cossack. He won
the Listed Durbanville Cup in 2010, before a shock 40-1 triumph in the Gold
Vase at Greyville in June 2011.
